Mrs. kristi, Final Exam

Water Treatment

The world has become a better and cleaner place to live with the development of water purification systems. Water purification involves many processes. There are many negative health results from not having clean water. The WHO is responsible for creating guidelines on what's acceptable water purification techniques. Water purification involves many processes."Water purification is the removal of contaminants from untreated water to produce drinking water that is pure enough for its intended use, most commonly human consumption”. The combination of the following is what has to be followed in order to clean water. Pre-chlorination is one step that eliminates many waterborne illnesses. Adding chlorine to water, it helps reduce bacteria and algae. Aeration is another important step it involves passing the liquid through air. Another step is Coagulation, in this step the dirty water particles accumulate at the top or bottom of water (sedimentation) and then is vacuumed. Desalination is way to get salt out of water. Many different disinfectants are put into water to purify it.
There are many negative health results from not having clean water. "Waterborne illnesses are estimated to cause 1.8 million deaths each year". Preparation of food using infected water is the main reason for diarrheal disease: "accounts which accounts for an estimated 4.1% of the total DALY global burden of disease and is responsible for the deaths of 1.8 million people every year. In my country (Dominican Republic) we have to be very cautious about drinking water and eating produce. We have to boil all of our cooking water, drink bottled water and wash all fruits and vegetables with chlorine.
The WHO is the World Heath Organization and they are responsible for making sure that water worldwide is being cleaned. In this website this organization explains its plans in making sure that each country is cleaning water the right way. http://www.who.int/water_sanitation_health/dwq/gdwq3_2.pdf there is a framework that has plans such as guideline and requirements for safe drinking water, safety plans and surveillance to make sure its working.
In conclusion, the world has become a better and cleaner place to live with the development of water purification systems. Fortunately the US has a great cleaning system and I don't have to worry about drinking water from the faucet. Unsafe drinking water has been said to be the leading cause of sickness and deaths in the world. The truth of the matter is that we are made of 60% water and we need it for every aspect of survival. It should be our number one priority to help keep water clean for everyone.

Writing Assignment 1, time order

From Monday to Friday and one weekend day I have to work a job from 6:30a.m. to 3:30 p.m.. The first thing I do is wake up at 6:00, then brush my teeth and wash my face. I then fix myself a small a breakfast. After I eat I go to my basement and get dressed. Finally, I grab my keys and go to work. It only takes me about 20 minutes to get ready and ten minutes to drive to work, I have an advantage of living close to work.

Wrting Assignment 3, order of importance

I had the worst day of my life about two months ago on a Friday. First, I went to work and forgot my wallet at home. Next I was at work and my personal working machine broke down. Next I had a problem with my barber, I drove 20 minutes to go see him and he told me he could't help me because he had to be somewhere. Another problem that day was when I went to buy dog food my car trunk broke. Above all it started pouring rain hard on my way home. I felt like there were a flood of demons attacking me all that day.

Mrs. Kristy Pg. 43 Injustice

Many times the justice system is not fair. There are day to day examples that show the people that the justice system picks and chooses who to prosecute. The justice system is supposed to be blind, but it is not blind. Money and color determines justice.

Kwame Kilpatrick the ex-mayor of Detroit is an example of how our justice system works. He was a mayor who stole lots of money from the city, just as many other mayors. He had power to spend money and spent 2.5 million of the civic fund on personal use. He only got under two years in jail and many not even serve that long. If it was an ordinary person like you or me, we would have gotten many more years. Also if he was a white man, would it have even gotten prosecuted in the first place.

Lindsay Lohan is another example of our justice system letting us down. She was charged with drinking and driving and possession of cocaine. She was only put on probation and she later violated her probation of not going to rehab and only got 90 days in jail. I just read in the news that she will only end up doing a couple weeks. Its not fair that a celebrity with money gets off so easily. She should have gotten just deserts and spend her whole 90-days in jail.

Another example was a president in my country in 2000 and named Ipolito Mejia, there was much corruption in his term. He lowered the value of our money, and destroyed our economy. He stole so much money from us and he never got prosecuted because of lack of evidence. He is now running for president this term.

In conclusion the justice system is not fair or blind. Prosecutions are based on money and color. Money rules the world, if you have money and commit a crime you will only pay a fine and not get what you deserve. The poor minorities worldwide have to suffer prosecution and no mercy.

The draft. For Ms Kristi.

One of the best places in the world is Niagara Falls. I was there last week,it is a beautiful place. There are many hotels. I stayed at the Skyline Inn; it has an attached water park. The water park has five slides, a wave pool and a jacuzzi. There is also an outside pool. My children enjoyed the pool.
The falls are wonderful at night. There are different color lights shining on the falls at night. During the day the falls are amazing, many people go and take pictures. There is a boat that is called Maid of the Mist that takes you very close to the falls. The best view of the falls is on the Canadian side.
There are many entertainment and shopping centers. There are haunted houses and many houses of wax.The houses of wax has famous people made of wax. There is a restaurant called Planet Hollywood with great ribs. In that restaurant there are pieces of different movie scenes. I happen to notice a statue of Sylvester Stallone, naked in a movie I saw as a child. Everything looked SO fascinating.
If you would like to visit one of the best places in the world, I recommend Niagara Falls. It is four hours away from Michigan. The prices are reasonable and there is something for the whole family to do.

Beer ads should be Out la wed on TV because it has more negative effects than cigarettes. cigarette advertising has been banned and.
I think that was the best idea. Being under the influence of alcohol is more dangerous than smoking a cigarette. Alcohol drinking alters the mind set and leads people to do unethical things. The long tern effects of drinking beer can damage the liver and in the long run will a person. The govern meant negs to step in and ban advertising of legal poison.

The letter to the Editor

To the Editor:

Sensationalist reporting is harmful to all people involved and has no place in our society.
On July 27,1996 our lives changed forever. My sons life will never be the same. This journal blamed my son of being a terrorist. My son was simply working as a security guard at the Centennial Olympic park on that day. My son risked his life helping injured people to safety. What you wrote about my son ruined his reputation. I am angry that my son was named a suspect instead of a hero.Your article in the Atlanta Journal violated our right to privacy and now we have no privacy. We are the 122th victims of that attack.
As a result of the madia's tolerance for irresponsible reporting, my family and I are a few more victims of sensationalism at its worst. On behalf of all victims of sensationalism, we demand a formal apology.
